Casey Smith

Casey was born on August 10, 1978 in Denver, Colorado. He grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. He moved with his parents to Sioux Falls in 1995. Casey was a very caring person and loved helping people, which is why he worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant H and medical technician. When asked what he missed most after he got sick and could not work, he said, Taking care of people. He was employed at Southridge Health Care and at Dow Rummel Village until his health forced him to give up the job he loved. Caseys son, Colin, was his pride and joy. He liked spending time with Colin especially at the arcade and going to movies. He was an avid sports fan and faithfully followed the Arkansas Razorbacks football and the Minnesota Vikings. Casey also was a trivia buff. He is survived by his son, Colin; parents, Debra Smith, Ricky and Laura Smith; brothers, Nathan and Randy; step brother, Jordan Kenyon; step sisters, Lisa (Todd) Phillips, Beth (Destry) Boersma and Amber (Derek) Neuzil; grandmothers, Joyce Monlux and Marilyn Esterby. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lyle Smith and Willard Neiger. Visitation will be Friday at Church at the Gate, Sioux Falls from 6-7 pm with a time to share memories starting at 7 pm. Memorial service will be 2 pm Saturday at Church at the Gate.
