Velda Elsie Pearson

February 28, 1924 — February 3, 2017

Velda was born August 28, 1924 in Parkston, SD, the daughter of Gust and Emelia (Hanselman) Fuerst. On December 18, 1949, Velda married Eldridge Pearson, and the couple spent their married life in Sioux Falls with their four children. For over fifty years, she was a faithful servant of God as a Sunday School teacher at Central Baptist Church. Her love of children was also evident as an employee at a daycare working until the age of 86. Hobbies included stitching tea towels, gardening and feeding the birds that would daily await their meals. Velda was preceded in death by husband, Eldridge, sons, Gaylon and Rodney; son in law, David Amo. Her pride and joy was her family which include Jolene Amo, Alanson, MI, Lance Pearson, Sioux Falls, Heidi (Todd) Jorgenson, Madison, SD and Beth (Greg) Short, Sioux Falls; Lorraine (Ervin) Schulz, Willard (Mary) Fuerst, Lillian (Ruben) Fuerst, all of Parkston, SD; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, & several nieces and nephews.
