David Oren

David Oren, age 73, passed away on May 6, 2017 at his home in Tea, South Dakota. Dave was born on August 9, 1943 in Pinehurst, North Carolina, the son of Norman and Mary (Perkinson) Oren. He grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School. Dave also attended Nettleton Jr. College in Sioux Falls. Dave married Cheryl Martin in 1964. They were married for 24 years, raised three children together and were later divorced. During their marriage, Dave worked as a route driver for Purolator Courier. He later worked as a dispatcher at Courier Dispatch for a few years and then as an auto parts delivery driver for Auto Body Specialties in Sioux Falls for the remainder of his career. He retired in 2012 but kept himself busy part-time as a Jimmy Johns delivery driver. He had a special relationship with each of his grandchildren and attended many sporting events and school activities. Dave enjoyed golfing and bowling, spending time with his family playing cards and beanbag games, and going to the movies. Dave liked challenging his family to a game of Pac-Man, so much so that he bought the arcade game to have in his home. Dave spent many countless hours playing the game with his grandson, Andrew. Over the years, Dave supported many charity groups, but had a special place in his heart for the St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, South Dakota. Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, Dan (Carol) Oren of Sioux Falls, Becky Oren Femrite of Sioux Falls, Jason (Miranda) Oren of Nashville, TN; seven grandchildren, Kyle Femrite, Tiffany Oren, Thad Femrite, Tara Oren, Leah Oren, Hadley Femrite and Andrew Oren; five siblings, Dale (Pat) Oren, Doug (Rose) Oren, Bob (Glenda) Oren, all of Sioux Falls, Cindy (Tom) Lee of Wayne, NE, Vicki (Tim) Hayen of Bemidji, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jeff.
