Beverly Roelfsema

November 4, 1931 — July 21, 2017

Beverly Rose (Hittle) Roelfsema was born Nov. 4, 1931 to William and Mary Hittle (Feurer) in Sioux Falls, SD. Her dad built their home in South Sioux and Beverly attended South Sioux School before attending Washington High School and graduating in 1950. She then attended General Beadle State Teachers College in Madison, SD. While teaching at a country school, she met and fell in love with George Roelfsema. They were married on June 27, 1951 in Sioux Falls. They were married for 47 years before George passed away in 1998. George went into the service and Beverly was with him in Fort Knox, KY and Fort Hood TX until he was sent to Korea. Beverly then returned to Sioux Falls and worked for Vallet Cleaners for several years. She then began working at the City Health Department (Community Health Center) where she worked for 26 years, retiring in May, 2003. She sold her home of 36 years and moved into her new home on an acreage, next to her daughter Carolyn, and her family. She enjoyed the peace and quiet of the country. She was a member of Renner Lutheran Church, VFW Post 628, and the Active Generation Center. She enjoyed line dancing, shuffleboard, and country music. Most of all, she loved to be with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were such a joy to her and they always had so much fun together. Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Kathy (Paul) Gardiner, Sioux Falls, SD; Carolyn (Bob) Vosburg, Renner, SD; two sons, Henry Roelfsema, Colorado; and William Roelfsema (Gwen Small), St. Petersburg, FL; six grandchildren, Shelly (Mike) Peysakhovich, Cody (Alyssa) Vosburg, Dustin (Kari) Vosburg, Randy Roelfsema, Mason Roelfsema, and Reid Roelfsema; two great grandchildren, Michael (Kathleen) Peysakhovich, and Masie Vosburg; one great-great granddaughter, Nina Peysakhovich and many other friends and relatives. Visitation Monday, July 24, 2017 at Renner Lutheran Church from 5-7 pm. Memorial Service 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 25, 2017
