Carolyn Bill

Carolyn went home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 84 years. The family requests memorial donations be made in Carolyns name to Faith United Church (Brandon), Feeding South Dakota Backpack Program, or Dougherty Hospice House. Visitation will be 2-5 pm Sunday at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Brandon. Funeral 1:30 pm Monday August 21, 2017 at the church. Carolyn June Bill was born on September 22, 1932 in Huron, South Dakota to Earl and Carolyn (Fuglsang) McFadden. She grew up at Huron and graduated from Huron High School. On October 1, 1950, she married Manford Bill in Huron. She worked at Standard Oil in Huron until their move to Hot Springs, SD where she was a school bus driver. They then moved to Sioux Falls before finally residing in Brandon. Prior to her passing, she resided at the Helping Hand Assisted Living Facility in Brandon. Carolyn was a dedicated servant at Brandon Faith United Church for over 48 years where she was an Elder, Deacon, Sunday school teacher and worked with the Meals on Wheels program. Many families in Brandon knew Carolyn for her 40 years of driving school bus for the Brandon Valley School District. In 2007 she was recognized as the School Bus Driver of the year for the State of South Dakota and was presented an award for her service. Her love of music and the outdoors was known to many. She and Manford had a love of hot air ballooning and built gondolas for Aerostar for 12 years. They also were avid gardeners and provided their produce to most of Brandon and Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Manford, and her siblings Lois Williams, Val Youells, Bob McFadden, Larry McFadden, and Lorlie McCune. As a loving and devoted mother, she will be missed by her children, Shelley and Eric Droz of Edmonds, WA, Holly Bill-Wilsey and Bruce Wilsey of Sioux Falls, SD, Randy and Tiffany Bill of Albuquerque, NM, and Brett and Bernadette Bill, Aberdeen, SD; grandchildren, Derek Droz, Adrianna Droz, Brandon Wilsey, Kaci (Wilsey) Thomas, Whitney (Wilsey) Heber, Meredith (Wilsey) Parrott and Wyatt Bill; and great-grandchildren Autumn Droz, Bryce Thomas, Wesley Thomas, and Nora Wilsey.
